Simon Baker To Star In Marriage Comedy I Give It A Year

They always say that the first year of marriage is the hardest. While things might have been going perfectly when you were a couple or even when you were engaged, being married is a whole new level of commitment, as everything becomes about "we" and looking towards the future. It's a level of pressure that not everybody is able to stand up to. That's the conflict at the heart of the new comedy I Give It A Year, which has just brought on a new actor to star.

Simon Baker, who is best known for playing Patrick Jane on the hit CBS drama The Mentalist, will be using part of his hiatus from the show to take a part in the movie, according to Variety. Rafe Spall, who will be seen later this year in Ridley Scott's Prometheus, is also attached to the project, though his role is unspecified, as is Baker's. The film is based on an original script by Dan Mazer, who is best known for his work with Sacha Baron Cohen, having served as a writer on Da Ali G Show and co-writing the script for both Borat and Bruno. Mazer will also be making his feature directorial debut (he previous helmed segments from Da Ali G Show as well as the comedy series Dog Bites Man.

The script is about a pair of newlyweds who go through trials and tribulations during their first year of marriage. Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan are producing, but the project doesn't have a distributor as of yet.
